Despite slowly
and sadly crumbling back into the lagoon on which it is built, Venice has
a unique character with its trademark canals and backstreets. May to September
is the main season for visitors.
Rome earns its title
'The Eternal City'. Sprawling far beyond its original seven hills, it is a
living museum, with ancient sights jostling alongside modern city life. And,
of course, the city's many restaurants are a mecca of Italian food. Visit
in Spring, early Summer or Autumn.
Home of the Renaissance,
Florence has some of Italy's most beautiful buildings and most famous works
of art. Visit in May, September and October for pleasant weather, or in Winter
for less crowded sightseeing.
