The
River Danube separates hilly Buda on its western bank from flatter Pest. Often
described as "little Paris", Budapest's 1,000 year old culture and
its history of settlement and rule by Romans and Turks is reflected in its
monuments, museums and architecture. When all that gets too much there's a
wide choice of spas and therapeutic baths to relax in. Best visited in March-June
or August-October.
